Middle East Education Services

Our Specialist Education Services in the Middle East

We have an established history of providing a first-class education, with a network of Ofsted Outstanding and Good specialist schools and colleges across the UK. Our children’s services also support young people with autism in the Middle East, to address the challenges their condition can present and to achieve their true potential.

We believe that every young person deserves education and support that will prepare them for a brighter future. With this in mind, we have opened Al Karamah School and Al Karamah Training Institute, part of a state-of-the-art new campus in Abu Dhabi.

The Al Karamah School

Launched in partnership with Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), Al Karamah School utilises our specialist experience and expertise to provide education and care for young people with autism. The school is operated and run by Priory Aspris (our transitional brand in the Middle East), supporting children and young people aged 3-18 years. It is the first school to provide these services in the United Arab Emirates.

Our specialist staff are experts in autism, and we take an inclusive approach towards supporting children and young people to succeed. The school delivers a model based on the UK national curriculum, currently running in our British schools. This includes a unique therapy offering and incorporates the requirements of a local curriculum, such as moral, Arabic and Islamic education, to support the cultural growth of the students.

A specialist learning environment:

Al Karamah School has been carefully designed to meet the specific needs of the young people and support them in achieving their potential. It provides an intimate and engaging learning environment, while ensuring safety and comfort for students. The school includes special classroom hubs, a multi-purpose hall and dining room, in addition to a large oasis garden.

Key features of the school include:

  • Small class sizes to ensure each child receives the individual support they need to unlock their potential and help them to succeed
  • The ability to look beyond standard approaches to deliver bespoke packages and a holistic approach to education, developing social needs, self-esteem and confidence
  • The school has been specially designed to ensure children are offered every opportunity to create, develop and innovate
  • A highly experienced multidisciplinary team who are experts in autism, including teachers and therapists
  • A calm, low-arousal learning environment where young people feel comfortable participating in their learning
  • Modern, world-class facilities designed with the young people’s needs in mind

“We are honoured to partner with ADEK to create the first specialist school in Abu Dhabi for children with autistic spectrum conditions. With a highly dedicated team working in such an outstanding and well-equipped learning environment, we are confident that we can provide high levels of specialist education and care for those living with autism. The school will offer opportunities for all students, encouraging them to fulfil their true potential.”

The Al Karamah Training Institute

Located on the same campus as Al Karamah School, Al Karamah Training Institute (AKTI) offers young people with autism a pathway for career success. Aspris has opened the centre in partnership with ADEK, to provide specialist training and work experience for students aged 15 years and above.

The Institute equips students with the skills they need to fulfil their work ambitions. They build practical skills and independence, undertaking hands-on learning experiences in eight key industries, including Electronics and Robotics, Creative Arts, Business Administration and Communications, and Video Production and Editing.

A state-of-the-art-campus:

Students learn on a purpose-built campus, featuring state-of-the-art specialist facilities. This includes innovation rooms, a gaming room, a video production and editing studio, a specialist kitchen, creative studios, a printing studio, cafe, hydroponics and a sensory garden.

Offering UK accredited training courses

Young people study specialist certified vocational courses, created in partnership with industry leaders. Students at the Institute gain recognised qualifications from UK awarding bodies, including the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) and the National Open College Network (NOCN). In addition, key UAE employers have become industry partners of the Institute, who are committed to recruiting and training students for their workforces.

"Our educational work in the UAE is fundamentally about helping to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of our many students. We are proud and honoured to be extending Aspris’ outstanding working relationship with ADEK, which builds on the exceptional success of Al Karamah School. The extension of our education services through this new purpose-built facility draws on Priory’s expertise and experience, established over decades as a specialist education and behavioural care provider in the UK."
